When I was Orthodox, discussions about a possible future in which communion with the Roman Catholic Church was sought were common. They usually centred around all of the things that Rome would have to go back on in order to return to her “orthodoxy”, but nonetheless, there is certainly a desire amongst some Orthodox Christians for a united Christendom, and the reversal of the so-called “Great Schism”. Although I am Anglican, and largely content with my new found home, I am also convinced that Rome that is the only candidate for a centre of unity for a future unified Christendom. I want to briefly explore why I think this is the case. This is paywalled as its a bit “inside baseball” compared to my normal content!
